Lagos backs safe petrol conversion to LPG for domestic use

Lagos State government has advocated safe conversion of petrol to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for domestic use in the state.

Director General (DG) of Lagos State Safety Commission (LSSC), Lanre Mojola, revealed this, at the weekend.

He said the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is committed to ensuring safety of life and property of the citizenry.

According to him, with subsidy removal in the country, which led to increase in pump price and unease among citizens, the conversion of petrol generators in homes and offices has risen considerably.

He said powering generators and plants with alternative fuels, like LPG or Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), is cheaper, offering potential long-term cost savings.

The DG said the fuels are cleaner and do not contaminate the air like petrol and diesel, and are often more abundant and domestically sourced.

This can ensure greater fuel availability and independence from fluctuations in petrol prices and prevent supply disruptions, he explained.

He added that CNG and LPG combustion generally produce less noise, compared to petrol.
