FlexxyDrive has secured operational approval from the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, paving the way for the company to begin operations within the regulated e-hailing sector in Lagos.
The approval, dated May 12, 2026, followed a regulatory inspection carried out by officials of the ministry on April 17, 2026. The clearance authorises the company to operate legally in Lagos through its Nigerian subsidiary, FlexxyDrive Software Technologies International Limited.
The development places FlexxyDrive among the growing number of licensed e-hailing operators in Lagos, one of Africa’s largest and most competitive urban transportation markets.
Owned by Flexxy GmbH, FlexxyDrive was founded in Germany and commenced Nigerian operations in December 2025. The platform is positioning itself as an integrated mobility ecosystem offering ride-hailing services alongside features such as scheduled rides, digital wallets, cashback rewards, and safety-focused verification systems.
Speaking on the approval, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Ajimijereomo Paul, said the company was built to create a more equitable operating environment for drivers.
“Drivers across Lagos lose a significant percentage of their earnings to platform commissions every day. FlexxyDrive was built to challenge that model through a more transparent and driver-focused approach. Receiving MOT approval confirms that a fairer system can also be built compliantly and at scale,” he said.
Technical Co-Chief Executive Officer, Stan Ibor, said the company’s technology infrastructure and safety systems contributed to the successful regulatory review.
“The platform prioritises safety, reliability, and operational scalability. The positive feedback received during the MOT inspection process validates the standards we established from day one,” he said.
According to the company, its operational structure includes a zero-commission model for drivers, passcode-based ride verification, real-time trip tracking, and reward incentives for users.
Since launching in Nigeria, FlexxyDrive said it has recorded more than 50,000 app installations while expanding operations across both Nigeria and Germany.
The company is also part of the NVIDIA Inception startup ecosystem and uses AWS-backed cloud infrastructure through affiliated technology programmes.
FlexxyDrive disclosed that it is preparing for a €1 million pre-seed funding round aimed at supporting expansion into additional African markets, improving platform infrastructure, and scaling operational capacity.
The leadership team also includes operations executive Ebri Inah, who oversees implementation and market expansion efforts.
The company said activation campaigns are already ongoing in major Lagos districts, including Yaba, Ikeja, Lekki, Surulere, Ajah, and Tejuosho, with plans to extend operations into other Nigerian cities before the end of 2026.
