Lagos State deputy governor, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, has described the death of former Minister of National Planning, Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi as a great loss to the country and Lagos State in particular.

Adebule made the statement when she paid a condolence visit to the family at their Olusola Gbadamosi Crescent, Awolowo Way, Ota-Ona, Ikorodu residence. She stated that with his exit, the state has lost an illustrious, selfless, community leader and very distinguished personality, who had used his wealth of experience and selflessness to contribute to the development of his country and fast track the socio-economic growth of his state.

“Chief Gbadamosi, an illustrious son, very distinguished and eminent personality will ever be remembered for playing a very critical role in the development of the country and helped to   fast track the socio economic growth of his state, Lagos,” she said.

According to Adebule, who was received by the widow of the deceased, Mrs. Tinuade Gbadamosi; the visit was to pay respect to a man of honour and a foremost economist, who was a foundation member of the first Lagos State Executive Council after it was created in 1967, and contributed immensely in laying a solid foundation for the rapid economic growth that makes the state, the investment hub of West African States.

She noted that the late Gbadamosi acceptance of the Co-Chairman position in the Eko @ 50 planning committee and contributions within the short period, clearly indicated his love for the growth, success and development of the state till death.

The deputy governor while praying for the repose of the soul of the deceased, assured the family that Lagos State government under the leadership of governor Akinwunmi Ambode, would ensure that his ideals and dreams for good governance and peaceful society are materialized through aggressive infrastructural renewals and urban development projects across the state.
