The 50 volunteers, who were selected from the Lagos State Volunteer Corps (LSVC), which has a 7,000 membership, were awarded N50,000 each at a retreat with the theme, “Volunteer now for our common future,” held in Lagos to mark the International Volunteer Day.

Country Co-ordinator, United Nations (UN) Volunteers, Veronica Obiuwevbi, noted that UN is celebrating its 50th year anniversary of volunteering in Nigeria and decided to acknowledge the efforts of the volunteers.
