• Tasks Apapa residents on curb of sexual violence
• Screens candidates for Lateef Jakande Academy
Lagos State Government, yesterday, said it had commenced probe of some of its judicial officers alleged to be extorting money from members of the public.
It, however, condemned such unprofessional behaviour.
The state judiciary, following the trending online news on unprofessional conduct of some officers, said it had zero-tolerance for corruption, promising that it will swiftly deal with any of its officers against whom such is proven.
A statement by the Acting Chief Registrar, Mr. Tajudeen Elias, said it is important to state unequivocally that the Lagos State Judiciary condemns such abhorrent behaviour if confirmed to be true.
He said there are internal investigative and disciplinary mechanisms usually deployed as part of the management system and that such had been promptly activated in this particular circumstance.
IN another development, Lagos State Government, through the State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), has urged residents of Apapa Local Council on the need to speak up against any form of sexual, domestic violence, negative effect of the menace and also educate victims on how to seek justice.
The DSVA Community Engagement Officer, Mr. Damilare Adewusi, who stated this at a town hall meeting, yesterday, said the move was to eradicate the menace in Lagos State.
Executive Chairman of the council, Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo, represented by the legislative leader, Ebenezer Fowowe, said that economic issues of the state and poverty level had contributed more to domestic and sexual violence.
He, therefore, urged women to be patient because it takes a broke man to be angry and violent at the slightest provocation and religious, community bodies, government to support in providing family aid to ease pressure.
MEANWHILE, the screening of applicants for Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy has continued with candidates undergoing executive training and validation programme.
About 32 candidates were involved in the exercise, which was held at the Public Service Staff Development Centre, Magodo.

According to him, it involves power-point preparation and presentation by candidates, interactive session with the assessors, interviewing, group discussion among candidates, as well as other activities.
One of the candidates, who participated in the exercise, Dr. Michael Olukoya, said the screening was wonderful and the organisation top-notch.
He admitted that the exercise was demanding and challenging but it turned out to be a wonderful experience for him.
