Operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have invaded a fake Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) centre in Jobi Fele Way, Alausa Business District, Ikeja, Lagos, and arrested four suspects for forgery and impersonating CAC officials.
The action followed a tip-off, painstaking background check and verification of the suspects, according to police.
The suspects are 28-year-old Gloria Ukaegbu; 30-year-old Omolere Kayode; 34-year-old Taiwo Ajayi; 27-year-old Nwachukwu Brenda and 25-year-old Oluwatomisin Adebisi.
Led by the Commander RRS, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Olayinka Egbeyemi, the operatives recovered several forged CAC documents, one Toyota Sienna and a Toyota Matrix used as makeshift offices for their transactions.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police (SP), Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed this development, said preliminary investigation revealed that the syndicate had swindled over hundreds of people through fake CAC registrations.
He stressed that the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, for further investigation and prosecution.
MEANWHILE, the parents of a six-year-old girl, Shukura Bolaji, rescued by the police, after roaming Alice Tinubu Street, Orile, Lagos, a few weeks ago have finally taken her home.
The State Police Command on June 29, 2022, sent the picture of the girl after days of fruitless search for the parents by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Orile, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Joshua Ekerenwen.
Almost two weeks after the auction, the parents of the girl did not go to the station to claim the girl, but the police confirmed that after The Guardian published on July 4, 2022, the parents of the girl came to look for her.
Hundeyin said: “The parents came to look for her after the publication, but by then, she was already on welfare. They came with her siblings also.”
“They live in Makoko, Yaba, Lagos, how she got to Orile was shocking, and the girl could not also explain it.”
