It was gathered that the incident occurred at La Silva Bar, Gowon Estate, Egbeda in the Alimosho area of Lagos.

Also, the CP has ordered the immediate arrest of the officer for disciplinary action and commencement of prosecution.

The police boss, it was gathered, was particularly interested in knowing how the operative who was said to be off duty, got the rifle he used that night.

The policeman, who allegedly fled the scene after realising his action, was said to have been invited to a birthday celebration by the celebrant Ifeanyi, alias Asiwaju of Computer Village.

The Guardian learnt that during the celebration, the armed officer, who was said to be under the influence of alcohol, suddenly opened fire, killing the two businessmen.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP), Benjamin Hundeyin, told The Guardian that details of the incidents were still sketchy.

He said: “I can confirm there was a shooting at the bar on Sunday night and two persons were killed.

“We are investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting. I can assure you that those responsible will not go free.

“The Commissioner of Police Lagos State has zero-tolerance for such behaviours and has already given marching orders to the DPO to fish out the culprits.”
