Lagos State has emphasised the role of collaborations in tackling environmental challenges, and creating a cleaner, greener and more sustainable state.

The Deputy Corps Marshal (Intelligence), Alhaji Ganiyu Salami, urged Lagosians to imbibe the culture of good waste management by using designated waste bins and promoting recycling initiatives.

He said this at the Lagos Central Senatorial District Stakeholders and engagement meeting organised by Lagos State Ministry of the Environment, Water Resources and Lagos State LAGESC/KAI.

He stressed the need to foster a culture of cleanliness through education and awareness programmes that could help instil good hygiene practices from an early age.

“By actively engaging in environmental sanitation practices, we can create a ripple effect that will transform our neighbourhoods and ultimately our entire city. Simple acts like proper waste disposal, recycling, and regular cleaning of our surroundings can go a long way in preventing the spread of diseases, reducing pollution, and preserving our natural resources.

“Let us key into the smart waste management systems initiative of the Lagos State government to promptly report waste-related issues in our neighbourhood. We all should be the eyes, the ears and whistleblowers for the government. We can expose the perpetrators of unfriendly environmental practices in our areas for the good of every one of us if we speak with one voice,” he said.

The Vice Iyaloja General, Lagos Island East, Alhaja Raliat Adebayo, urged the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) Corps to deal with the market authorities anytime they have issues to address instead of by passing chain of command.
