Lagos to shut down Oba Akran Avenue for street carnival

The Lagos State government yesterday said plans had been concluded to host this year’s edition of the Lagos Street carnival scheduled to hold on December 3 at Oba Akran Avenue in Ikeja.

The Lagos State government yesterday said plans had been concluded to host this year’s edition of the Lagos Street carnival scheduled to hold on December 3 at Oba Akran Avenue in Ikeja.

Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Adebimpe Akinsola, said the venue of the carnival would be shut down but adequate preparations had been made for alternative routes to mitigate the impact of the road closure on motorists and residents.

The carnival, which started last year, is designed to celebrate the multi-cultural nature of Lagosians and reposition the state as a formidable cultural destination.

Akinsola assured Lagosians of tight security and encouraged more people to participate in the carnival.She said the line-up of artistes include Olamide, Lil Kesh, Queen Salawa Abeni, Malaika, Tope Sax and others.
