LASG opens 4 more agric inputs centres

The Lagos State Government has opened four additional agricultural inputs centres as part of efforts to meet the demands of farmers across the state.

The Lagos State Government has opened four additional agricultural inputs centres as part of efforts to meet the demands of farmers across the state.

Mr Bolaji Balogun, the General Manager of the State Inputs Service Authority (LAISA), disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos.

He said with the new outlets the centres had been increased to 10.

According to him, three of the centres are located in Badagry apart from one at the LAISA headquarters.

He said two centres had been located in Ikorodu and Agege each while Epe and Ajah had one each.

Balogun said the additional centres were opened to enable farmers and fishermen to access inputs at affordable prices.

“LAISA seeks to ensure that farmers and fishermen in the state are able to access agricultural inputs at affordable prices nearest to their farms.

“We have tried to increase our outlets of the farm service centres from six to ten.

“Three in Badagry division, two in Ikorodu, two in Agege, one in Epe, one in Ajah.

“This is to ensure that farmers do not face difficulties in getting these products,’’ Balogun said.

According to him, the authority deals in agro chemicals, fish feeds, outboard engines, water pumps, fertilisers and organic manure.

He assured farmers of the quality and affordability of the products at the various centres.

“The responses have been impressive as farmers are now aware that these things are now nearer to them and that they are reliable.’’

The general manager also expressed the authority’s satisfaction with the quality of fish feeds produced by a Denmark company, Aller Aqua.

“The government through LAISA is supporting Aller Aqua because it is a high quality fish feeds.

“We hope that the company, in future, will establish a fish feeds milling plant in Nigeria.

“That will improve internally generated revenue and increase employment in the state,’’ Balogun said.
