• Grants approval to 4,830 officers for further studies

Lagos State Government, yesterday, disclosed that it paid N456.558 million as medical residency training fund for 470 resident doctors in 2025.
The state’s Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo, disclosed this during the 2026 ministerial media briefing held at the Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, where he presented the ministry’s achievements.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to building a more efficient and digitally driven public service through continuous investment in capacity building, industrial harmony and workers’ welfare.
Ayantayo said the ministry sponsored 248 officers to attend professional conferences, including 20 officers who participated in international conferences and 228 officers in local conferences.
He also revealed that 4,830 officers were granted approval for further studies, comprising 25 full-time and 4,795 part-time beneficiaries.
According to him, the Public-Private Industry Exchange Programme commenced in 2025 with 50 participants deployed to private organisations for industry exposure and experience exchange.
Ayantayo added that 10 officers secured approval for the Policy, Strategy and Leadership Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, while 100 mid-level officers underwent a three-month Public Service Accelerator Programme on advanced leadership, strategic management and adaptive governance skills.
Similarly, the state government said it disbursed over N2.13 billion to 3,301 vulnerable residents in the last one year under the Eko Cares Financial Assistance Programme to deepen social intervention, strengthen grassroots governance and expand citizen engagement.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr Afolabi Tajudeen, disclosed this at the media briefing.
He also disclosed that the 2026 budget allocation for the programme stood at N3.14 billion, signaling government’s commitment to sustaining welfare support amid prevailing economic challenges.
In a related vein, Lagos State government has paid N8.042 billion to retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and Defined Benefit Scheme as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen workers’ welfare, improve pension administration and enhance service delivery across the state public service.
The disclosure formed part of the address delivered by the Lagos State Head of Service (HOS), Bode Agoro, during the 2026 ministerial media briefing yesterday.
Agoro said the payment underscored the administration’s commitment to the welfare of serving and retired public servants, describing the public service as the engine room of governance and development in Lagos State.
He, therefore, reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration to improving the welfare of public servants, strengthening institutional reforms and sustaining efficient service delivery in Lagos State.
