• Implores motorists to take alternative routes

Lagos State Government has warned estates and streets around the Lekki and Ajah corridor not to close their gates before 11:00 p.m. as the second phase of the ongoing repairs of the Lekki-Ajah commences today.

The state’s Commissioner for Transport, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, gave the warning yesterday, during a tour of the ongoing repairs and the planned commencement of the second phase of the repairs of the Lekki-Ajah Road from Lekki Phase 1 Roundabout to Ajah Bridge.

He urged residents and motorists to use alternative routes.

In another development, the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has urged parents, stakeholders and leaders to provide the right support systems to help the boy child navigate peer pressure, negative societal influences, substance abuse, and emotional struggles that often go unaddressed.

Sanwo-Olu, while speaking at the Lagos Boy Child Initiative’s four-day workshop, held at St. Gregory College, Ikoyi, yesterday, said that the initiative was conceived out of the need to give boys the right attention, guidance, and opportunities required to grow into responsible, confident, and productive members of the society.

She said that the boys had suffered from inadequate orientation and the level of attention they deserve, especially when compared to the advocacy and support consistently directed towards the female children, noting that while the advocacy remains important, it has become increasingly necessary to ensure that the boy-child is not left behind.

Sanwo-Olu, therefore, implored parents, guardians, and stakeholders to be more intentional in raising boys, stating that they need guidance, mentorship, and positive role models.

In her remark, the wife of the Deputy Governor, Oluremi Hamzat, stated that the initiative reflects a timely and strategic effort to guide young boys towards becoming responsible, confident, and purposeful individuals.
