Meanwhile, Lagos State Government, yesterday, said works were in top gear to start the Fourth Mainland Bridge with at least three toll points, which would be in the best interest of the surrounding communities.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Aramide Adeyoye, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting.
Adeyoye, represented by the Project Director, Fourth Mainland Bridge, Tokunbo Ajanaku, said that the construction of the bridge would employ at least 10,000 people, including suppliers, artisans and others.

According to her, the bridge would open up the Eti-Osa axis and allow greater connectivity between the Mainland and Island, making businesses to flourish, while journeying from the Island would no longer be three to four hours but 30 minutes.

She promised that adequate compensation would be given to those whose property would be affected by the construction.
