Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), yesterday morning, rescued a drunk driver who rammed into a road median at C.M.S, inward the outer Marina area of Lagos.

The driver, who was in a Volkswagen Space bus with registration number AAW 56 AA, hit the median at top high speed and became stuck. A source from the traffic agency said preliminary investigation revealed that the driver lost control because he had taken much alcohol.

“Immediately the accident happened, LASTMA personnel working around CMS outer Marina rushed to the scene and rescued the driver, who was later taken to Odan General Hospital for medical treatment.

“Police officers from Lion Building provided security backup while LASTMA personnel recovered the trapped vehicle to enable free vehicular movement,” the officer added.

Meanwhile, LASTMA General Manager, Bakare Oki, who was on a monitoring tour with top management of the agency, visited the scene. He appealed to the motoring public not to drink while driving, and obey all traffic regulations to ensure safety.
