Those asked to go have overstayed residency programme, by management

The Association of Resident Doctors {ARD} at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology ‎Teaching Hospital yesterday alleged that the management of the hospital has sacked an unspecified number of their colleagues.

President of the Association, Dr. Adeyinka Owolabi said at a press briefing held at the ARD lounge in the health facility said contrary to information in some quarters no concrete agreement has been reached between the association and their employer.
Owolabi, who alleged that the sacking of the doctors might not be unconnected with the recent staff audit conducted by the hospital management at the instance of the state government, however hinted that the affected doctors have not collected his or her letter of sack due to the on-going strike.

The doctors have been on strike over unpaid salaries and other welfare related matters since September last year.

However, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Professor Akeem Lasisi, said those who the management asked to go had overstayed the duration of their residency programme.

He said the sacking of the doctors followed the forensic audit carried out in the hospital pointing out that the exercise also affected other workers in the tertiary facility.
