
The former vice president in a press statement released by his media office yesterday noted that one of the basic components of Ramadan fasting is to seek the mercy of God to forgive us our sins, and thus it becomes imperative for us as humans to extend the grace of forgiveness and common understanding to other human beings as well.
“Let us use the end of the Ramadan fasting to promote a re-awakening of peace and unity in our lives, our communities and in Nigeria at large,” Atiku said.
Also, a leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, yesterday felicitated with Muslim faithful in the country on the Eid-el-Fitri festival.
Onu, in a statement reminded the citizenry on the need to put aside both religious and ethnic differences in the interest of the country.
Congratulating Nigerians on the occasion, he urged Muslims to rededicate themselves to the enduring attributes of love for one another and a more robust resolve to strengthen those bonds that unite as well as bridge the gaps that divide Nigerians.
In his Sallah message, Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the last governorship election, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has felicitated with Muslims in Nigeria on the completion of the Ramadan fast.
Isiaka, in a statement to congratulate Muslims on the Eid-el-Fitri, urged them to continue to ruminate on various sermons (Tafsir) they received in the holy season and apply them in their dealings with fellow citizens.
In a similar development, a former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, in his message urged adherents of the faith to keep up with the virtues gained during the Ramadan period, which included piety, patience, tolerance, perseverance, humility, self denial and service to humanity.
