Businesses and people residing in Kaduna Junction, Kogi Poly, Zango Town, CBN, and Lokoja Town regions of Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, will suffer a blackout that will last six hours and thirty minutes today.
This is as a result of a scheduled maintenance of the Lokoja 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The agency’s General Manager for Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, announced this in a statement released on Tuesday morning.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) notifies the public that a planned maintenance exercise has been scheduled at its Lokoja 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation today, May 20, 2025, from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm,” Mbah noted.
While this is ongoing, the TCN’s maintenance crew will carry out maintenance on a 60MVA 132/33kV transformer and 150MVA 330/132/33kV transformer in the substation.
As a result of these maintenance exercises, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to the aforementioned areas while the exercises are ongoing.
“Consequently, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to offtake power from the two transformers for six hours, 30 minutes today,” Mbah added.
“Within that period, their customers in Kaduna Junction, Kogi Poly, Zango Town, CBN, and Lokoja Town will not be supplied electricity.”
The agency has appealed to residents to exercise patience during this period and apologised for any inconvenience the scheduled maintenance will cause residents and businesses in those areas.
Last week, The Guardian reported that the TCN conducted a preventive maintenance exercise on its T1 40MVA 132/33kV power transformer at McPherson Transmission Substation, causing a six-hour blackout in the McPherson University and Ogunmakin area of Oyo State.
