Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has planned to hold its 17th town hall meeting scheduled for December 12, 2023, at Eko Hotel and Suites, in a bid to tackle the evolving security challenges in the state.

The event, with the theme, “Security Complexity and Convergence: Lagos Imperatives,” aims to explore the multifaceted nature of contemporary security issues.

LSSTF’s Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Abdulrazaq Balogun, emphasised the significance of the event during a press briefing, yesterday, to announce the 17th yearly town hall meeting of the trust fund.

He stated that the event serves as a platform to provide stewardship to Lagosians, especially the funds’ donors.

He stressed the need for transparency in resource utilisation and expressed that the event allows the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to have a discussion on the state security, aspirations for the upcoming year, and the Commissioner of Police to present a comprehensive report.

It will also provide citizens the opportunity to ask questions, give suggestions, and vent their disaffection in the state.
Balogun, who underscored the centrality of security to the prosperity of a state and urged collective efforts in addressing challenges, stressed the need for a well-equipped and motivated Nigerian Police Force, adding that human, food and environmental security play crucial roles in crime reduction.

Director of Administration at LSSTF, Degbola Lewis, emphasised the importance of a holistic approach to combating crime, integrating technology, physical security, and other strategies.

He said that security agencies had made very good use of the resources given to them, and there is adequate monitoring and maintenance by the trust fund.

Also, the Executive Assistant, Adaobi Nwankwo, said that the event would be strictly by invitation but could be followed online on all their social media platforms using the hashtag #17thTownHallMeeting.
She added that donations could be made to the trust fund through a guideline on the organisation’s website, noting that it can be made both in cash and kind.
