Lukman seeks N15m for kidney transplant
Thirty-seven-year-old Okelola Lukman, who was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, needs N15 million to undergo kidney transplant at St. Nicholas Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Lukman, who was at The Guardian Newspaper’s Corporate Headquarters Rutam, House Isolo, Lagos, accompanied by his friend and family member, said he had high Blood Pressure (BP) which was not detected early, and which has led to the kidney problem.
He explained that the kidney problem started since February 9, 2021, adding he was treated at his family hospital in Shogunle, Lagos, but was later referred to St. Nicholas Hospital for the kidney transplant.
He had been undergoing dialysis weekly since the sickness started through the help of friends and family members. A report from St. Nicholas Hospital, showed that the transplant will cost N9 million, while drugs he would take after the surgery would bring the cost to N15 million.
He said: “I have been spending N110,000 every week for dialysis,
but have been referred to St. Nicholas Hospital for surgery. I plead with members of the public to assist me financially to enable me to undergo the surgery.
