SHOCK and disbelief were visibly written on the faces of residents of Olubunmi Christopher Close, off Arowolo Street, Abule-Egba, Lagos State, over the death of a woman, Mrs. Tawa Oniyide, who was stabbed to death by her son, Ibrahim, at the weekend.

As at Sunday, the effect of the tragic incident was still evident in the area, as residents gathered in small groups to rue the tragedy, even as others sat in vantage positions peeping
at the house from afar.

Though the culprit was apprehended on Saturday by officials of the Oko-Oba Police division, residents were still yet to let off hangover of the psychological trauma, which occurred around 11.00a.m. on Friday, when the cry of a one-year-old grandchild of the deceased rented the air, as Ibrahim ran out of the house.

The landlord, Pa Olubunmi Christopher said he went to visit his friend on that fateful day, but on his return, he met some people who informed him that somebody was murdered in his house. When I entered the room, I saw the woman already dead. It was a gory sight to behold. Ibrahim, who is the first son, only visits once in a while. I immediately reported the matter to the police, who came and carried the corpse.

“They came with Ibrahim on Saturday to the room after which he was asked why he committed the crime, but he said he didn’t know what came over him. The police said investigations would commence today.”
