Man, 32, docked over alleged misappropriation of company’s fund

The Police on Friday arraigned a 32-year-old man, Basil Obasi, in a Dutse Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for alleged misappropriation of company's fund.

The Police on Friday arraigned a 32-year-old man, Basil Obasi, in a Dutse Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for alleged misappropriation of company’s fund.

Obasi, a resident of opposite NEPA office in Bwari, is facing a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of company’s N773, 011.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Miss Agnes Aloko, Senior State Counsel, told the court that the matter was reported on Dec. 2 at the Bwari Police Station by one Timothy Medugu of Kubwa, Abuja.

According to Aloko, the defendant, a staff of Procter and Gamble Company for the past three months as a sales representative, was entrusted with some goods.

She said that the defendant collected the goods valued at N773, 011, sold some and converted the money to his personal use.
Aloko said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 311 and 308 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Mr Ado Ahmed, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N30,000 and one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till Jan. 26, for hearing.
