Man gets three-month jail term for stealing Rev. King’s church property
A twenty seven-year-old former member of Rev. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo King’s Christian Prayer Assembly Church, David Jack, has been arrested and charged before an Isolo Magistrates’ Court for breaking into the church headquarters and stealing church property.
It was gathered that Jack, who was a strong member of the church but stopped after Rev. King was arrested and condemned to death for murder, gained access into the church in Ajao Estate, Lagos after Sunday service and secretly went to the music section to steal two mixers worth N850,000, belonging to the church.
According to a police source, Jack reportedly hid the stolen equipment inside a bag and was taking it outside the church premises when the security man became suspicious and demanded to search his bag.
During the search, the mixer was discovered and he was immediately handed over to the police at Ajao Estate division, who charged him to court. When arraigned, he pleaded guilty and also pleaded for leniency.
The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uwagbale, presented the facts and asked the court to sentence him accordingly. The Magistrate, Mr. A.O. Ogbe, found him guilty and sentenced him to three months imprisonment without an option of fine.
