Man stabbed to death after row with sex workers over ‘service fee’

Investigation revealed that the victim contracted Angela to pass the night with him on an agreed amount, but the deceased reneged on the agreement, which led to a hot argument between them.

The suspects

A middle-aged man, Adeyinka Olayinka, has allegedly been stabbed to death by two sex workers, Kudirat Raji (a.k.a Angela) and Esther Basiru, in Ifo area of Ogun State, over disagreement on ‘service fee’.

According to a statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, a copy of which was made available to The Guardian, the incident occurred on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the KS Hotel, Ifo, when the deceased, who was supervising construction works going on in his building site decided to pass the night at the hotel.

Investigation revealed that the victim contracted Angela to pass the night with him on an agreed amount, but the deceased reneged on the agreement, which led to a hot argument between them.

While the argument was on, Basiru, who is a friend to Angela broke a bottle and stabbed the deceased’s friend who was at the scene, while Angela used the broken part of the bottle to stab Olayinka on his armpit, cutting one of his nerves, consequent upon which he bled to death.

Oyeyemi said the manager of the hotel (name withheld), quickly alerted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ifo Division, CSP Anthony Haruna, who immediately led his men to the scene and arrested the two suspects.

He noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the transfer of the case to Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discrete investigation and possible prosecution of the suspects.
