May 29: Tinubu vows to tackle insecurity, reduce corruption

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says his administration is determined to fight insecurity in all nooks and crannies of the country, reform governance, and ensure that corruption is reduced to the barest minimum.

Speaking on the second anniversary of his administration this morning, Tinubu calmed the frayed nerves of Nigerians on rising insecurity, assuring that his administration is working round the clock to make the country safe, adding that all security operatives will be empowered with every necessary equipment to win the war against terrorism and banditry in the country.

The President added that his Renewed Hope Agenda is geared towards tackling economic instability, improving security nationwide, reducing corruption, reforming governance, and lifting our people out of poverty.

On the economy, Tinubu maintained that this administration has remained honest by acknowledging some of the difficulties experienced by families while implementing the reforms necessary to strengthen the economy and deliver shared prosperity.
“Under our Renewed Hope Agenda, our administration pledged to tackle economic instability, improve security nationwide, reduce corruption, reform governance, and lift our people out of poverty.

“We do not take your patience for granted. I must restate that the only alternative to the reforms our administration initiated was a fiscal crisis that would have bred runaway inflation, external debt default, crippling fuel shortages, a plunging Naira, and an economy in a free-fall,” he said.

The President added that the country made undeniable progress in its efforts to rebuild the economy, with rice prices and other staples declining, while the oil and gas sector is gradually recovering with rig counts up by over 400% in 2025 compared to 2021, and over $8 billion in new investments have been committed.

“We have stabilised our economy and are now better positioned for growth and prepared to withstand global shocks,” Tinubu said.

President Tinubu revealed further that his administration has implemented several reforms to restore and reinvigorate the national economy and strengthen its social fabric as a strong and united country.

He expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their unrelenting support and belief in the grand vision that government shares to uplift the country and renew our collective hopes and aspirations.
