Mayaki denies grabbing land, claims ownership
Contrary to a recent report by an online newspaper that some hoodlums were arrested after invading Odogbawojo community with firearms to allegedly grab their land, Abubakar Mayaki, aka Ajagungbale, has clarified that he legitimately bought the land in question.
The online newspaper had reported that nine hoodlums terrorising Eti-Osa, Oreki Village, Ibeju Lekki and Epe Area of Lagos State allegedly working for renowned land grabbers, Mayaki and Taiwo Enitiodunmo aka T9.
However, Mayaki in a statement, yesterday, described the report as nothing but a pure envy, untrue, mudslinging, vilification and false imputation against him.
He said: “It was also wrongly and malicious reported that the nine suspects were arrested by the officers from Naforija Police Station with series of prohibited firearms. All these are efforts being put in place by our contemporaries, who are finding their surviving tricks in the field of real estate business.
“I, Alhaji Abubakar Mayaki, will not go by the way of vendetta, but I will let the good people of Epe and its environs and other people that might have read the purported story know that was untrue about me…”
“On this fateful day, my staff had information that some groups of people were on the company land that I legitimately purchased from the Olora of Ora Royal Family with a clear and clean title by the whole family for development purpose.
“On their way to my land, Naforija Police officers met eight members of my staff on their way back to the site and they were all arrested and later tagged as land grabbers working for me and Enitiodunmo.
“I am not pointing accusing fingers unto Naforija Police Station for quickly transferring the matter to state command to carry out their independent investigation on the allegation leveled against me.
“It was also alleged that I am working with Enitiodunmo who was recently released from Homicide at DIG Force C.I.D Cell through the influence of one ACP Sanusi attached to SWAT but that is equally untrue because there was nothing of such in the records of Nigeria Police.
“I want the public and good people of Epe to be aware that I am not in any way contravening the Lagos State Properties Law. I was not hired to invade the Odogbawojo community with firearms or on whatsoever deprive anybody to gain access to their farmland. My presence at Odogbawojo was nothing but to develop the acres of land that I bought from Ora Royal Family.
“I am also using this opportunity to inform the general public that the investigation of all the malicious allegation against me and my staff have been concluded by the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos Command, and the matter has been charged to a Magistrate Court for fair hearing in order to give justice to whosoever it deems fit.”
