Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and other prominent personalities are expected to converge on Enugu on August 14 for a festschrift in honour of distinguished academic and traditional ruler, HRM Prof. Dr Christian Nwachukwu Oke.
The event, which will focus on International and Comparative Law, is being organised to celebrate Prof. Oke’s contributions to legal scholarship, academia and public service.
Other dignitaries expected at the ceremony include the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Dr Christian Anieke; Catholic Bishop of Enugu, Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Chukwuma Onaga; and Rector of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Prof. Dr Gozie Ogbodo.
The ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Peter Mbah Auditorium, Godfrey Okoye University, Thinkers Corner, Enugu.
The festschrift, published by Renaissance Law Publications Ltd., is titled The Legal and Academic Colossus: From Academia to Majesty, with Prof. Agu Gab Agu serving as Editor-in-Chief.
Governor Mbah will be the Chief Host, while Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu will chair the occasion. Prof. Anieke will serve as the host, Prof. Ogbodo will review the publication, while Most Rev. Onaga will be the Spiritual Father of the Day.
Prof. Oke, the Eze Osuofia I of Obinofia Ndiuno Ancient Kingdom, is widely regarded as a distinguished scholar and accomplished traditional ruler whose career has been marked by intellectual depth, strategic insight and a strong commitment to public service.
The event is expected to attract academics, legal practitioners, government officials, traditional rulers and other dignitaries who will celebrate Prof. Oke’s contributions to law, scholarship and community leadership.
