Two men, who allegedly robbed and killed one of the occupants in a house, were on Thursday in Lagos remanded in prison on the order of an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused — Akeem Akinsanya, 24, and Tunji Taiwo, 19 — are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery and murder.
Before adjourning the case to March 3 for further hearing, the Magistrate, Mrs Oluwadamilola Olanipekun, ordered that the duo should be remanded in prison pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Ologun told the court that the accused broke into the home of two brothers — Kazeem and Rasheed Durojaiye — at No. 7, Olaore St., Agege, a Lagos suburb, on Dec. 6, 2015 and robbed them.
“They harassed and terrorised the brothers and carted away their personal belongings including phones, electronic equipment and cash.
“They shot and killed one of the brothers, Rasheed Durojaiye, 35, before leaving the house,” Ologun said.
The prosecutor said the men were apprehended in their escape bid at Dalemo in Alakuko area on Lagos-Sango/Ota-Abeokuta Expressway.
He said the offences contravened Sections 221, 295, 297, and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
