Mgbenwelu resigns as Rebuild Imo spokesman, dumps Ihedioha over Onyereri’s removal

Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha is currently in distress following the resignation of spokesperson of his immediate political structure, “Rebuild Imo Movement”.

The resignation of Hon. Meekam Mgbenwelu is linked to the Supreme Court nullification of the Senatorial primaries of PDP for Imo West (Orlu zone) that produced Rt Hon Jones Onyereri as candidate.

In his resignation letter obtained by newsmen in Owerri, the state capital, Hon Meekam Mgbenwelu maintained that it would amount to double tragedy for the people of Imo West Senatorial district (Orlu zone) if he continued to take refuge in the political camp of former Imo governor, Hon Emeka Ihedioha after he (Ihedioha) deliberately masterminded the removal of ‘my brother’, Hon Onyereri, whom he described as the people’s choice.

According to Hon Mgbenwelu, he said ‘I can’t be part of a system that aided injustice to Orlu zone where i hail from and Imo people at large, wondering how Ihedioha could have the face to seek the support of his people when he has sworn never to allow us have a Senator of PDP extraction in the forthcoming 2023 general election.

The calm but bitter Hon Meekam disclosed, “Jones Onyereri is my brother, a beloved and trusted son every Orlu zone man and woman across party lines are crying as a result of ‘this act of wickedness’ and injustice aided by Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha. ‘No, I can’t be with him anymore, This is an act of extreme wickedness. I never knew that Ihedioha is evil, vindictive, selfish and greedy….no no no, am done with him!, Meekam Mgbenwelu exlaimed”

It can be recalled that Hon Meekam served as Commissioner for Information Technology under Ihedioha’s seven months short-lived administration. Mgbenwelu was appointed the spokesperson of the Rebuild Imo Movement three months ago, a political structure of former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Ihedioha aimed at re-electing the sacked Governor.

He, therefore, promised to address the press in a later date to expose more of Ihedioha’s political gimmicks that are in variance with the vision of PDP in Nigeria, this Newspaper gathered.
