Military restricts movement of vehicles, bicycles, animals in Borno

THE Nigerian Army in Borno State has restricted the movements of all vehicles, bicycles and animals during the Sallah celebrations to protect people’s lives and property against any possible attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents during the two-day Eid-el-Kabir festivities in the state.

The military’s vehicular restriction was contained in a statement by Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Tukur Gasau, which was made available to newsmen in Maiduguri, the state capital.

The statement reads: “This is to inform the general public in Borno State that a restriction on vehicular movement will be observed during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration throughout the state. All movements of vehicles, bicycles and animals like horses, camels and donkeys in Maiduguri will be restricted from Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. (1700 hours).

“All vehicular movements in and out of Maiduguri town will also be restricted within the same period till further notice.”

He added that the decision was in line with the new resolve of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies in Operation LAFIYA DOLE to ensure that the people of Borno State enjoy hitch-free Sallah celebrations.
