Mimiko canvasses restructuring for sustainable growth

MIMIKKO• Gov assures on tourism development
CONTRARY to the widely publicised change mantra of the Federal Government, Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has declared that what Nigeria needs at this crucial moment was to restructuring so that the federating units would be able to harness their abundant resources and create wealth for their people.

Addressing party faithful at an end-of-the year gathering in Akure yesterday, Mimiko submitted that the only change that the country desired now was the change in its constitution with a view to galvanising visible national development.

According to him, the present constitution which left the states and local councils at the mercy of the Federal Government will continue to jeopardise national unity and development.

The governor explained that his administration has remained focused in its vision of adding value to the lives of the people in the areas of healthcare, education, infrastructure and urban renewal among others, noting that empirical evidences had justified the successes of the programmes.

“A transformational leader must have the ability to communicate appropriately, must be able to motivate and inspire his people and must get them to see what they must know and also galvanise them into action so that they can achieve the desired result at the end,” Mimiko said.

Meanwhile, the governor has reiterated his administration’s determination in ensuring that the state occupies its rightful place in the world tourism map.

Mimiko, while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2015 Mare festival in Idanre, said government would continue to develop the state’s tourism potentials so as to bring to the state the honour due to it.

He expressed his satisfaction at this year’s event where notable artistes, among them, Tuface Idibia, Paul Play Dairo, Aralola performed to the delight of guests.
