Mimiko says delay in wage payment over soon

•1,200 job vacancies arise in Ondo

Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko has assured that the present predicament of Nigeria, particularly the inability to pay workers’ salaries would soon become a thing of the past.

Mimiko, who gave the assurance on Sunday at the 13th Anniversary of the Prayer Centre Church of God in Akure, identified the inability by state governments to pay workers’ salaries as the greatest challenge facing state governments in the country today.

The governor stated that despite the numerous sins committed in the country on daily basis, God has continued to show uncommon mercy to Nigeria, stressing that “when the whole world thought that it’s  over for the country, God comes  to our rescue and our country is now in peace”.  

He said, “we should all be thankful to God in this country, because many people thought that by today our country will be in crisis but I’m glad to say that each time we thought that it’s all over for Nigeria, God will come to our rescue. Where we are today is because of the prayers of the saints.”  

He added: “God promised that there will be peace and prosperity in our palaces, what we are going through  today in this country  will soon pass away, even the  inability of state governments to pay salaries.”

In his sermon, Pastor Ade Ojo called for spiritual rebirth by Nigerians, noting that Nigerians must remain committed to the service of God for the nation’s transformation and breakthrough. 

Meanwhile, efforts of the government to provide jobs for its youths is beginning to yield fruits as  about 1,200 job vacancies would be available to fill  in the state by September this year when  operation is expected to begin at the ongoing Akure Shopping mall.

Mimiko had registered his satisfaction at the pace of work at the project site at the weekend after he was conducted round the premises with other members of the state’s executive council by  the developer of the project and  Chief Executive officer of Top Services Limited Tokunbo Omisore, who mentioned that the Mall being constructed for the operational base of the popular Shoprite  will be ready for business by 24th of September 2015.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the mall, which occupies about 34,000 Sqm out of 98,000 Sqm on the old Owena Motel in Akure was performed by Governor Mimiko on the 18th of August last year.
 
Governor Mimiko, who expressed satisfaction at the quality and level of the project said the shopping mall would raise the commercial and economic activities of the  state, as well as, the social lives of the people.

Mimiko explained that the project, which was conceived through Public Private Partnership programme of his administration is one of the measures put in place  to improve the lives of the people of the state and provide direct and indirect employment  for about 1,200 people.
