Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has debunked rumours of a rift between him and Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, describing the claims as baseless social media speculation.
Speaking on Thursday in Ikare-Akoko, headquarters of Akoko North-East Local Council, during a medical outreach organised by the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), Tunji-Ojo stressed that his focus remains on supporting initiatives that promote President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Represented by Bode Obanla, a former aide to Governor Aiyedatiwa, Tunji-Ojo said: “Politics is local. My duty is to support any genuine group committed to promoting the good work of Mr. President.
There is no fight between me and the governor. What matters is that we work together to project the achievements of Asiwaju.”
He explained that GMT is not limited to Ondo State but operates as a nationwide movement with a track record of innovative programmes.
“At this point, any group mobilising for Asiwaju is welcome. GMT has shown commendable initiatives, and I will continue to support efforts that take the president’s message to the grassroots,” he added.
Earlier, GMT Director-General, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, said the free medical outreach targets about 1,000 beneficiaries per senatorial district and will be extended to constituencies to deepen its reach.
He commended Tunji-Ojo for supporting the initiative, which he described as complementing President Tinubu’s policies.
GMT Woman Leader, Mrs. Olamide Falana, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to promoting the president’s achievements, while one of the beneficiaries, Mr. Sodiq Issau-Sanni, praised the organisers for bringing healthcare closer to rural communities.
