The program implemented in partnership with Africa Arise Foundation, Shalom Health foundation and other partners Is aimed at improving the welfare of the IDPs at residing at the Area1 Garki IDP camp.

The Chief Executive Officer of Two Mites Mission, Emmanuel Ayoola explained that the three-pronged program would provide humanitarian support ranging from education to skill acquisition and an advocacy on the Economic, Social and Cultural rights of the community.

He said their vision is a world where every vulnerable child and family thrives with dignity, hope and purpose.

He said the education programme would provide lessons in English, Mathematics, Basic Science and Computer Science for over 450 children over the next two months.

According to him, the healthcare component is expected to reach about 1,350 beneficiaries through free medical consultations, malaria treatment, deworming, multivitamin supplements and other essential medications.

Ogunsanya further explained that the medical outreach was designed to address widespread nutritional deficiencies and the high prevalence of malaria in the camp due to poor living conditions.

On the vocation training program, he said over 40 women will be trained in hair making, mentioning that the global fashion industry presents enormous economic opportunities. He said “Equipping these women with practical skills will help them become financially independent and reintegrate into societ.”

Ogunsanya however stressed that increased investment in education and skills development remained critical to national development, saying countries prosper through the quality of their human capital rather than natural resources alone.

He also called on government to urgently tackle the insecurity challenge in the country, saying growing number of displaced persons and out-of-school children continues to outpace ongoing humanitarian efforts.

He called for stronger collaboration among government, development partners and non-governmental organisations to address insecurity, improve education and strengthen governance.
