MIVA Open University, recently held its maiden matriculation ceremony, marking a significant milestone for the institution and its inaugural cohort of 532 students.
The ceremony, held simultaneously at the university’s campuses in Abuja and Lagos, officially inducted the pioneering students into a variety of bachelor’s degree programmes, including Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Public Policy and Administration, Business Management, Economics, and Accounting, all of which are licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Vice Chancellor of Miva Open University, Professor Tayo, emphasised the institution’s commitment to providing quality education and empowering students to achieve their academic goals.
In their keynote speeches, Board member of the university and Immediate Past Regional Senior Partner PwC West Africa, Uyi Akpata and Chief Executive Officer, Sterling Bank Plc, Suleiman Abubakar, encouraged the newly enrolled students to embrace the opportunities offered by the university and strive for excellence in their academic pursuits. They emphasised the importance of dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to lifelong learning, adding that success is within their reach with the right mindset and effort.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt benediction and a reception for the students, faculty, and their families, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie within the MIVA Open University’s community.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including; Acting Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Chris Maiyaki; Senior Partner at TLcom Capital, Omobola Johnson, and Country Director Google Nigeria, Juliet Ehimaun.
