MNJTF neutralises four Boko Haram terrorists in Borno

• 15 commuters rescued from bandits in Kaduna
• MACBAN turns in suspected Fulani kidnappers, others to police

Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have killed four Boko Haram terrorists in the Gajiram–Monguno axis of Borno State.

They also recovered a cache of arms, at the weekend, while conducting clearance operations for remnants of terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin.

The Chief of Military Public Information, MNJTF, Col. Muhammad Dole, said: “The renewed vigour and resilience in the conduct of ongoing clearance operations was to flush out remnants Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.”

According to him, the terrorists’ ambush in the Gambari axis was successfully repelled to recover a cache of arms and ammunition.

He noted that during the two-hour encounter, several terrorists escaped with gunshot wound towards Sasawa Forests in Yobe State.

“Unfortunately, a soldier sustained that injury is receiving treatment at a military medical facility,” he said.

He added that the recovered arms include three AK-47 rifles and ammunition.

The Force Commander for MNJTF, Maj-Gen. Abdul Ibrahim, charged the troops to maintain the tempo by adopting aggressive posture in dealing with insurgents.

AGAIN, troops in Kaduna State have rescued 15 kidnapped commuters from the hands of bandits in Jema’a Local Council.

The troops, under Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), reported the incident to the Kaduna State Government, pointing out that the 15 were kidnapped in Jagindi part of the council.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, stated in his security update, yesterday, that the 15 had been kidnapped from two vehicles in the area while in transit, noting that “the troops responded to a distress call and mobilised swiftly to the location.”

IN response to its promised of exposing all the bad eggs among herders, the Taraba State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has handed over six suspected kidnappers to the state police command.

Among the suspects was a gun-runner, whom The Guardian learnt had been supplying arms to hoodlums terrorising the state.

Also, six ‘repented’ kidnappers, who, our correspondent learnt, voluntarily renounced the illicit trade, publicly presented to the elders of the Fulani ethnic group and the police.

The presentation, made by the state chairman of the association, Alhaji Sahabi Tukur, to the state police commission, Abimbola Sokoya, on Sunday, took place at Maraban Kunini, in Lau Local Council of the state.

Chairman of the association, said the action was in response to the pledge made by the association before the Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Tafida, and the Commissioner of Police.
