Monarch partners group to achieve SDG in Akure
To actualise the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in Akure Metropolitan city, Ondo State and its environs, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo has promised to collaborate with the Kids and Teens Resource Centre (K&TRC).
The monarch, who spoke in his palace, during the organisation’s courtesy visit in commemoration of his first coronation anniversary, and conferment of Life Patron on him, marveled that he never knew such humanitarian organisation existed in the country, declaring that he would expedite the development of the city.
The Executive Director of the organisation, Mr. Martin-Mary Falana assured that his organisation is poised to complement the monarch’s efforts, with all the institutions for the betterment of the metropolitan city and neighbouring communities.
According to him, the non-governmental organisation, which has 34 graduates in its payroll, was established in December 2002 and for its 13 years of existence, it has been working among young people and children in the state.
Falana explained that it envisions a secured future where young people are empowered to contribute to the sustainable development of their communities, creating an enabling environment for equipping young people with knowledge and skills appropriate for self-actualisation and national development.
He said; “These programmes focus on mobilising people for behavioral and attitudinal changes that promote best sexual and reproductive health practices, in order to reduce diseases burden particularly STI, HIV & AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis, which are currently devastating families and communities globally and Nigeria in particular.
“We have built schools, health centres, civil centres and constructed several potable water projects across rural and excluded communities in Ondo State, through the support of International Agencies (Action Aid International Nigeria, EU-MPP6 & EU-MPP9).”
