President of MOSOP, Legborsi Pyagbara made this disclosure yesterday at the 23rd anniversary celebration of the Movement held at Birabi Grammar School, Bori, in Gokhana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Pyagbara, whose re-election recently is still being challenged by his opponent, Chief Mike Lube-Nwidobie, noted that past 23 years of the struggle, Federal Government had not shown concern to address the environmental disaster in Ogoni.

He said, “We must exhibit resilience in this struggle until victory is achieved.”

The MOSOP’s youth wing also at the occasion vowed to shutdown the state after the 30 days deadline.

However, in a swift contrast, the factional President of MOSOP, Mr. Mike Lube-Nwidobie in an online statement to commemorate the Ogoni Day celebration, assured that the clean-up exercise would commence in the next six months.

He said, “I want to assure you that this year is a great year for our people. This year is not a year of struggles and agitation, but a year to reap from our struggles, a year of collaboration with government and relevant development agencies to stimulate the Ogoni economy and achieve the UNEP report implementation quickly. I assure you that the Ogoni clean up will commence within the next six months of our leadership.
