
It also said smartphone penetration in Nigeria currently stands at about 44.4 per cent, representing 81.2 million Nigerians, who own smartphones.
MTN Chief Digital Officer, Aisha Mumuni. who made the call and disclosure, at a meeting with MDAs and non-profit organizations, yesterday, in Abuja, noted that mobile smartphones were the most useful tools now.
She stated that smartphones were becoming part of almost every type of communication with modern and unprecedented opportunities for the public and private sector to deliver timely, relevant information directly into the hands of consumers.
Mumuni said that with the widespread use of smartphones, the opportunity to engage with people where they were most receptive had never been greater.
Highlighting the need for government agencies to adopt mobile advertising, Mumuni observed that it would allow them to meet people in the spaces that they already occupy.
She said it was an unprecedented opportunity for the public and private sector to deliver timely, relevant information directly into the hands of the consumers and the people as they use that space.
Earlier, the Senior Manager, Digital Advertising and Campaign, MTN, Eyitayo Amushan said there was a way to communicate directly to people through their mobile phones, which is simply what mobile ads are all about.
Also speaking, Chief Enterprise Business Officer (CEBO) Lynda Saint-Nwafor, said MTN believed that everyone deserved the benefit of a modern connected world.
