Fast-rising Spanish-Nigerian music artist, Gustoriano, is gradually positioning himself as one of the emerging voices redefining diaspora African music, as anticipation mounts for the release of his forthcoming single titled “Ronaldinho” on June 6, 2026.

Born Ellis John and originally from Delta State, Nigeria, the Barcelona-based act is drawing attention for his unique journey, independent mindset, and refusal to conform to the heavily commercialised sound currently dominating the music industry.

Unlike many artistes who intentionally pursue music from an early stage, Gustoriano revealed that his entry into music happened naturally.

“I never planned music. I just found myself doing it,” he said.

The upcoming record, inspired by Brazilian football icon Ronaldinho, is expected to mirror the football star’s fearless creativity, confidence, flair, and unpredictability qualities that made him one of the most admired athletes of his generation.

Though deeply connected to his Nigerian roots, Gustoriano has spent most of his life in Barcelona, a city widely recognised for its vibrant multicultural identity and creative culture. According to the singer, his upbringing was shaped by discipline, structure, and strong personal values, traits that later influenced both his lifestyle and career decisions.

By the age of 21, the artist had already begun living independently, an experience he says contributed significantly to his maturity and approach to business.

Rather than depending on record labels or external sponsorship, Gustoriano explained that a major turning point came when he realised he could personally finance his musical ambitions.

“When I started making my own money, I understood I could invest in myself, pay for what I needed, and really take my music seriously,” he stated.

The self-funded approach has since become a defining part of his brand, reflecting a growing trend among African creatives in the diaspora who are increasingly building global careers outside traditional entertainment structures.

Despite the rising attention surrounding his music, Gustoriano maintains a calm and reserved attitude toward competition within the industry, choosing instead to allow his work speak for itself.

“I don’t really like speaking on being better or more unique than other artists. The music should speak for itself,” he added.

Music observers say the artist’s combination of African roots, European influence, authenticity, and creative independence could position him as one of the fresh voices to watch within the evolving global Afrobeats and alternative music scene.

With “Ronaldinho” already generating curiosity ahead of its release, many believe June 6 could signal the beginning of a major breakthrough moment for the Barcelona-based talent.
