Muslim leaders urge faithful to watch out for moon today
THE League of Imams and Alfas comprising clerics from the South-West, Edo and Delta states has urged Muslims nationwide to look out for the moon from today so as to commence Ramadan.
In the communiqué signed by its Secretary-General, Sheik A. O. Aladesawe and the Publicity Secretary, Sheik Habeebullahi Adam Al-Ilory yesterday, the clerics after their meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State capital over the weekend, said their position was in line with the teaching of Prophet Mohammed.
Besides, the group also congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for his electoral victory and subsequent inauguration.
The group said: “As a worthy and an exemplary Muslim, we urge our President to live up to his campaign promises as we are ready to support him with prayers.
“We equally want to appeal to our President to set agenda for a new Nigeria, using all his God-given potentials, experience and doggedness to accomplish the task.”
