NAF intensifies airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force has sustained its counter-terrorism air operations in Borno State, carrying out precision strikes on suspected terrorist strongholds within the Sambisa Forest axis under Operation Hadin Kai.

According to a statement, the air interdiction missions were executed on 26 May 2026 following credible intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance reports identifying terrorist hideouts and logistics bases in the Biramiri area of the Gezuwa general axis.

The Air Force said its aircraft targeted and destroyed key structures believed to be used as operational and support facilities by insurgents, while several fighters were reportedly neutralised in the process.

The statement noted that the sustained bombardments are part of ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist capacity and restrict their movement across the Sambisa Forest region, which remains a known hideout for insurgent groups in the North-East.

It added that the continuous air operations have created heightened pressure within terrorist ranks, leading to confusion and disruption of their activities as they struggle to find safe locations.

Military authorities said the operation is being conducted in collaboration with ground troops under Operation Hadin Kai and other security agencies, as part of a coordinated effort to restore stability in the region.

The Nigerian Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining offensive pressure on terrorist networks while supporting broader national efforts aimed at ensuring lasting peace and security in the North-East.
