The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Thursday debunked claims of alleged negligence in monitoring expired licenses of products.

There have been reports suggesting that NAFDAC has not been carrying out its responsibility, especially with the increase in the sale of fake products in Nigeria.

NAFDAC, however, issued a statement on X with the agency saying such reports are false.

“Clarification Alert! Dear Clients and Public, NAFDAC is debunking online rumours suggesting negligence in monitoring expired licenses. The Agency promptly investigated and found all claims false,” NAFDAC tweeted.

NAFDAC added that the following products have valid registrations: Cway Drinking Water, Eva Premium Table Water, Peak Full Cream Instant Milk Powder and Golden Penny Pasta Spaghetti.

According to the agency, all the products are also compliant with NAFDAC registration timelines.

NAFDAC said it remains committed to transparency and integrity in all its endeavours and strongly condemn any form of corruption within the organization, including but not limited to transactional corruption.

“To check the registration status of products, visit https://registration.nafdac.gov.ng or send an email to [email protected] to confirm products not found on the database,” NAFDAC stated.

“Together, let us uphold the highest ethical standards to ensure public trust and safety. In light of this, we encourage the public to actively report any occurrences of corruption they may encounter while engaging with NAFDAC.

“Your vigilance can help us maintain accountability and ensure a corruption-free Agency. Together, we can build a stronger and more transparent organization.”
