The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public warning regarding the recall of Nivea BLACK & WHITE Invisible Roll-on deodorant.
NAFDAC, in a statement, said the (50ml)product, marked “48H and bearing batch number 93529610, is harmful, and the public should discontinue the usage by submitting the remaining to the nearest NAFDAC office.
The deodorant is reported to contain 2-(4-tert-Butylbenzyl propionaldehyde (BMHCA), a substance prohibited in cosmetics due to its potential harm to the reproductive system and risks to foetal development.
NAFDAC advised importers, distributors, retailers, and consumers to exercise extreme caution by avoiding the importation, distribution, sale, and use of the specified Nivea Roll-on with the affected batch number.
“Members of the public in possession of the affected batch of product should discontinue the sale or use and submit stock to the nearest NAFDAC office,” the agency said.

“Healthcare professionals and consumers are encouraged to report adverse events experienced with the use of regulated products to the nearest NAFDAC office.”
The agency also encouraged healthcare professionals and consumers to report any adverse reactions experienced with this or other regulated products.
