The National Agency for Foods and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) for the sampling and testing of Finished Pharmaceutical Products under the Global Fund support.

The Director General of NAFDAC, Yetunde Oni disclosed that four of its laboratories in different parts of the country have obtained the ISO 17025 accreditation. According to her, the Central Drug Control Laboratory in Yaba, Lagos, is about to get World Health Organisation (WHO) pre- qualification status.

“So, when we have the two accreditations in place, this means our equipment will be top-notch.” Earlier, the Country Representative, Catholic Relief Services, Nigeria, Rebecca Hallam thanked NAFDAC and other key stakeholders for signing the agreement. She stressed that routine monitoring of the quality of FPPs is very critical.
