Nasarawa Guber Poll: Group optimistic Supreme Court will stand for justice

Abdullahi Sule, Nassarawa State governor

As Nasarawa State awaits the verdict of the Supreme Court on who is the authentic winner of March 18 governorship election, ‘Women for Justice’ has said that the apex court decision will determine the peace and commitment to democratic principles in the state.

Over 500 women, mainly widows and aged women embarked on peaceful protest seeking for justice to restore the victory of David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the declaration of Governor Abdullahi Sule as winner of the March 18 poll by INEC.

One of the group’s coordinators, Mrs. Jumai Abdullahi, said they have strong hope in the Supreme Court being the apex court with very high integrity and reasoning.

“If we do not have confidence on the Supreme Court we would have chicken out considering the challenges and sacrifices involved in risking our lives for the past 10 month.

“There is no amount of insult and harassment we have not received from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state and the threat from the military, but we remained resilient, because we are convinced there are still reasonable, God fearing judges who will not be cajoled by anybody or gratification to pass verdict.”
