NASOW Boss Tasks Members On Capacity Building, Honours Olajumoke, Others
THE National Association of Social Workers (NASOW), Ondo State Chapter, has honoured Senator Bode Olajumoke and two others with awards of excellence for their philanthropic gestures to the society.
Chairman of the association, Sola Aladesuyi, who presented the awards during the 2015 International Social Workers’ Day celebration in Akure, tasked members on capacity building and acquisition of more professional knowledge.
Aladesuyi said it is very important for the members of the union to invest in capacity building. This, he said, would help them to improve quality service delivery and to measure up with their counterparts globally, so as to meet the 21st century demands.
According to him, the association is the umbrella body of all professional social workers, established for members in the country to widen their scope and capacity, as it is affiliated with the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW).
He said: “The main components of social work profession include social welfare services, community development, rehabilitation, youth development, child development, women development, medical social work and industrial social work.”
He noted that such works are rendered through governmental agencies including paramilitary agencies such as the police, immigration, prison
services and complemented by non-governmental agencies in compliance with the provisions of the 1979 Nigerian Constitution as amended: “The security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.”
Three industrious indigenes of Ondo State: Senator Bode Olajumoke, Otunba Ayodele Dele-Ajayi and Barrister Lawani Johnson were honoured with
awards of excellence for their humanitarian and philanthropic services to humanity and actualization of NASOW objectives.
Olajumoke, who was a member of the Senate from 2003 to 2007, has impacted positively on the lives of people around him, and greatly helped to ensure a better life for the society.
