THE Nigerian Navy has handed over a vessel, OMS OGO and its crew arrested by a patrol team from NNS Delta, to officials of the South South zone of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Delta Base, Warri.

The ship and its nine-man crew were arrested when caught using a valid permission meant for premium motor spirit (petrol) for the lifting of diesel instead.

It was gathered that the shipment was done illegally.

The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral Apochi Suleiman who did the handover, said the ant-graft agency had the statutory framework to prosecute the culprits.

He told the EFCC officials, led by a Principal Detective Superintendent, Abdul Hamid Bawa, that it was henceforth the duty of the EFCC to see to the needs of the arrested men and vessel.
