The sanctions were announced in legal notices issued by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) on August 13, 2024.

NBA’s spokesperson, Akorede Habeeb Lawal, revealed in a statement on X that the LPDC found the lawyers guilty of various ethical breaches.

According to Lawal, the following practitioners have been sanctioned:

Abikoye Opeyemi Timothy, with SCN number 034372, was struck off the Roll of Legal Practitioners and ordered to refund N2,359,000 to the petitioner.

Jonathan Chinendu Nwagwu (SCN 052392) was suspended from legal practice for three years from April 24, 2024, and mandated to refund N1,943,043.70k to the petitioner.

Edward Oseghale (SCN 073464) and Cyprian Obiora Ifeanyi Agwuna (SCN 005675) received two-year suspensions from legal practice, effective May 8, 2023, and February 20, 2024, respectively.
