Give back to UI, VC tells alumni
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) yesterday, urged employers of labour in the country to stop discrimination against polytechnic graduates, saying they are well-equipped with necessary skills to compete favourably in the labour market.

The NBTE’s Director of Polytechnic Programmes, Ngbede Ogoh, made the call while speaking with journalists at the sideline of the ongoing accreditation visitation of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Ogoh, who urged employers to look more towards the polytechnic graduates and stop discriminating against them, said that the polytechnic curriculum was designed to put the graduates ahead of their university counterparts.

MEANWHILE, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, yesterday, urged the alumni of the institution to give back to their alma mater, noting that government alone cannot meet all the needs of the university.

Adebowale gave the charge during a courtesy visit to his office by participants of the Masters degree programme in Strategic Studies of the Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies.

The VC noted that by virtue of their exalted positions in the nation’s security services, the participants are well placed to add value to the university.
