Seeks nationwide mobilisation

‎The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its digital membership registration portal in Abuja as part of efforts to expand participation, modernise party operations, and strengthen its organisational structure across the country.

The unveiling ceremony was led by the party’s National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, alongside the National Chairman, Cleopas Moses, and the National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu. Several state chairmen, party leaders, and stakeholders also attended the event.

Speaking at the launch, Dickson described the digital platform as a major step toward building a modern political organisation capable of attracting broad national participation, including Nigerians in the diaspora.

According to him, the portal will enable citizens to register as members of the party from any location while ensuring proper documentation and efficient management of membership records.

He expressed appreciation to Nigerians who have shown interest in the party since its emergence, noting that many citizens had reached out through calls and messages to indicate their readiness to support the political movement.

“I thank Nigerians across the country who, upon hearing about this initiative, have encouraged us with messages and calls and have shown their readiness to support this vision to salvage our country,” Dickson said.

The former Bayelsa governor noted that although the party is only a few weeks old, it has already begun attracting significant attention from Nigerians across different regions.

He said the NDC was established as a national political platform, with structures already being coordinated by experienced political operatives at the state, local government, and ward levels.

“We are a national party. We are a pan-Nigerian democratic movement. We are not a regional movement,” he said.

Explaining how the system will operate, Dickson said the digital registration portal would be complemented by manual registration forms to ensure inclusiveness, particularly for citizens in rural areas who may not have access to internet services or digital devices.

According to him, printed registration forms will be distributed through party officials at the state, local government, and ward levels to ensure that no interested Nigerian is excluded from the process.

Dickson also expressed confidence that the party would meet its organisational and registration targets despite the limited time available, noting that party leaders across the country have already been mobilised to assist Nigerians wishing to join the platform.

Commenting on the country’s political situation, Dickson said growing dissatisfaction among citizens has created a demand for credible political alternatives.

“Nigerians are angry with the status quo. Nigerians are not only angry, they are also hungry — and they are hungry for change,” he said.

He added that the NDC intends to position itself as a credible political platform capable of delivering the transformation many Nigerians desire.

Dickson further described the party as a fresh and crisis-free political movement built on ideological politics, national unity, and development.

“The NDC is available as the tool for effecting the change Nigerians want,” he said.

Using a biblical analogy to underscore the urgency of political engagement, Dickson likened the emergence of the party to the story of Noah and the ark.

“In the Bible, when Noah knew what was going to happen and prepared the ark, people thought he was crazy. But when the flood eventually came, they began to run to the ark and it was too late,” he said.

“The NDC in Nigeria today is like Noah’s family. Those who can see the signs should come on board early.”
